So what are you worried about??
Today I woke up thinking, “I don’t even know where to begin. I’m so tired today. My body hurts and I have so much to do. I promised I would spend a short time reading scriptures in the morning as a way to start my day. But where even to begin?? God, I’m simply overwhelmed.”
Then God showed me Psalms 1 though 5. I read through the chapters kind of absentmindedly. But immediately one scripture jumped out: Ps. 5:3 My voice you shall hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto you, and will look up.
Ok, ok, I get it. Sorry, God. So, now I’m listening. I went back over the verses one by one, really listening this time, starting at Ps. 1:1.
Ps. 1:1 Blessed is the man who walks NOT in the counsel of the ungodly, essentially avoiding a life of sin, but delights in the law of the LORD. Blessed. Right. I forgot you blessed us when we try hard to do all we can to follow you, LORD. The Amplified Bible says blessed = happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable.
So God nudges me and says, “See! So what are you worried about??” Then it continues… Ps. 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, (that means strong, refreshed and healthy and beautiful) bringing forth his fruit in his season (wow, I really will be useful and produce something of value – when it’s time, but I’ve got to be patient) : his leaf shall not wither (being continually refreshed by God’s living water, I won’t grow weak and fall apart and be useless and ugly) ; and whatsoever he does shall prosper. (oh YEAH! That’s what I needed to hear! What so ever I do. That means this crazy project, too!)
Ok, so I’ve got to say connected to the river so I can stay strong and refreshed. And I’ve got to trust that it will all work out fine and in spite of what I see or feel right now, trust that I will prosper in everything, especially this thing.
Ok, God. Got it! Thank you!
O Father, you are so awesome. You have prepared a way for me to go. O beautiful Spirit, you are so lovely. You have revealed that way to me. O Word of God, my precious Saviour, you are that Way and you alone will I follow.
Thank you for choosing me. Thank you for loving and leading me. Bless me again, this day, I pray. Amen.
